JEE Advanced 2019 – Application Form, Dates, Exam Pattern & Syllabus, Cut-off

JEE Advanced 2019 | It is a national-level examination through which candidates are offered admission in Engineering and Architecture courses. The admission is granted in the top and reputed institutes of the country such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, etc. JEE Advanced 2019 is going to be held on 27th May 2019. The exam will be conducted via online mode i.e. it is a computer-based test and will be conducted in two different time slots for Paper 1 and Paper 2 of 3 hours duration each. The papers will be divided into 3 sections Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Both the papers are mandatory for students and only those who have qualified JEE Main can sit for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced Exam 2019 Eligibility Criteria

There are a set of requirements that need to be fulfilled by candidates only after which they will be allowed to apply for the exam and further appear for it. These requirements are commonly known as eligibility criteria. Aspirants can check whether they are eligible or not by referring to below points:


Indian and Foreign nationals can apply for the exam. Foreign nationals have the privilege to apply for JEE Advanced directly without taking JEE examination.


The candidate applying for the exam must have an age of at least 25 years.

Number of Attempts:

Applicants can attempt twice in 2 consecutive years.

Qualifying Examination:

The candidate must have qualified class 12th or any equivalent examination. Moreover, students who are appearing in class 12th can also apply.

In addition, the qualified candidate must have secured 75% in class 12th or he/she must be among the top 20 percentile holders of the qualifying examination.

JEE Main Performance:

The top 2,45,000 qualified aspirants of JEE Main 2019 are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019.

IIT Admissions:

Applicants who have rejected the allotted seat cannot apply for the exam on the other hand applicants who have taken the preparatory classes from any of the IITs or who have paid for the allotted seat and not accepted are eligible to apply.

JEE Advanced 2019 Application Form

Interested candidates who desire to apply for the exam must fill the JEE Advanced 2019 application form. IIT Roorkee will release the application form on 3rd May 2019. Thus candidates are required to fill and submit it before the closing date which is 9th May 2019. Before filling the form, students are advised to check and meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. There are some mandatory steps that need to be followed by every single candidate in order to fill JEE Advanced Application Form 2019 and they include the following:

Step 1 – Online Registration

In this step, applicants need to log in using their application number and date of birth and further they have to provide all the required details.

Step 2 – Uploading of Scanned Images

Upon successful login, students have to upload scanned images of a list of documents in JPG format that consists of the following:

  •    Class 10th and 12th Certificate
  •    Birth Certificate
  •    Category Certificate
  •    PwD Certificate
  •    OCI or PIO Card

Step 3 – Payment of Application Fee

Candidates also have to pay a requisite application fee which differs as per the category they belong to. Payments can be made either through online mode (Net Banking, Debit or Credit Card) or offline mode (cash using SBI option).

Step 4 – Submit the Application Form

Once payment has been done, aspirants need to submit their respective forms.

Step 5 – Printout of a Confirmation Page

Students have to take a printout if confirmation page after successfully submitting the application form.

JEE Advanced 2019 Admit Card

The exam conducting authority will generate the admit card for only registered candidates.  The admit card will be made available on 20th May 2019. Candidates need to download the hall ticket as the authority is not responsible for sending it via post or mail. The admit card is considered a crucial document as it is used for verification of the candidate’s identity at the time of examination. Thus, students have to carry their respective admit card on the examination day or else they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall and further attempt the exam. Apart from this, the JEE Advanced 2019 hall ticket also contains some important details regarding an appearing candidate and entrance examination. Along with the admit card, aspirants also have to carry one of the photo identity proofs.

Steps to download Admit Card:

  •    Visit the official website
  •    Enter details such as application number, date of birth, mobile number and registered email id.
  •    Then click on the “Submit” button.
  •    The JEE Advanced Admit Card 2019 will appear on the screen.
  •    Now check every single detail mentioned on the admit card and in case of no discrepancy, download it
  •    Take a printout of the same.

JEE Advanced will be conducted in around 161 cities in India and abroad.

  •    While filling the application form, candidates have to select 5 exam centres of from IIT Zone.
  •    The selected centres cannot be changed at a later stage

JEE Advanced 2019 Exam Pattern

Candidates who are going to attempt the examination must be aware of the JEE Advanced Exam Pattern. The pattern is prescribed as follows:

  •    JEE Advanced 2019 will be held in online mode only.
  •    The exam will consist of 2 papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  •    Both the papers will be conducted at different time slots on 27th May 2019. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and Paper 2 will be conducted from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
  •    The papers will be in English or Hindi literature.
  •    Each paper will be of 3 hours duration.
  •    The question paper will be divided into 3 sections and they are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  •    There will be 3 types of questions that will be asked in the question papers and they are Multiple Choice Questions, Aptitude Questions and Match the cases.
  •    The marking scheme will be declared at the time of examination.

JEE Advanced 2019 Syllabus

It is mandatory for applicants to have full knowledge of JEE Advanced Exam Syllabus as it is beneficial for them to study and prepare for the exam according to it. JEE Advanced Answer Key 2019

IIT Roorkee will publish the answer key which will contain all the correct responses to the questions that will be asked in the question paper. The official answer key will be released on 4th June 2019. Through JEE Advanced 2019 answer key, students can cross-check the answers marked by them in the exam against the correct responses provided in an answer key. The concerned authority also facilitates the candidate with the duration of time in which they can raise objections against the released answer key if not satisfied with it or there is an error present in it. The final JEE Advanced Answer Key 2019 will then be released after taking into consideration all the objections raised by applicants and it is expected to be published in the second week of June.

JEE Advanced Exam 2019 Result

Candidates will be able to check and view the JEE Advanced Result 2019 via online mode on 21st June 2019. The result will be available on the official website in the form of scorecard which will display the subject-wise score, total marks, All India Rank (AIR) and category-wise AIR secured by an individual.

JEE Advanced Merit List

The concerned authority will also publish the JEE Advanced Merit List along with the announcement of result. The merit list will contain names of those who will score the minimum marks as prescribed and also who have attempted both the papers. The score obtained by aspirants are used in the preparation of the merit list and the minimum marks vary according to the different category of applicants

JEE Advanced Cut-Off

The minimum qualifying score required by an applicant to be eligible for getting admitted in any of the participating institutes is known as the JEE Advanced cutoff. Those who score equal to or above this prescribed cutoff have higher chances of admission and furthermore, they are called to attend the counselling process. Hence all applicants who wish for admission through JEE Advanced 2019 examination must meet the cutoff of JEE Advanced 2019.

JEE Advanced 2019 Counselling

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be responsible for organizing the JEE Advanced 2019 counselling for all the qualifiers of the exam. Candidates have to first register for taking part in the counselling process. During this time, qualifiers have to fill the choice of IIT and course according to their preference and interest. The seats will then be allotted on the basis of choices filled, rank obtained and availability of seats. JoSAA Application Form will be available in the second week of June tentatively.
